One of the best things about residual income is that it is yours to keep indefinitely. You can get a regular check every week or month once a solid foundation is built and you can be wasting the day on a beach or somewhere exotic, skiing down a mountain in Europe, sailing in the Caribbean, traveling around the US in your new camper, or just sitting at home enjoying your freedom with your family!

Imagine, if you will, a weekly check that comes in like clockwork. What would this mean to you and those you love? Let’s compare that to a day JOB, which is also called, “Linear,” Income, or a payment that you receive from going in to a place of business day-after-day, week-after-week, year-after-year and giving your employer much of your time and efforts. You receive your check on payday in the form of wages and/or commissions while paying the most taxes the law will allow.

Having a “regular” day job or getting paid by commission is still a “one-shot-deal.This means that if you get fired, quit, or something unplanned happens to you, your paycheck will stop immediately and you are left searching for another day job so you can make ends meet. It is a sad state of affairs that many people are just one paycheck away from not being able to make their housing payment!!! This is what living “paycheck-to-paycheck” really means.

There are many different ways to create this “residual” income. You could write a best-seller, invent something, get lucky in the stock market, or own a successful life insurance company. Most options that would earn good residual income are difficult for many people and they have large start-up costs, or you need special talents and skills, not to mention lots of time and effort. Do any of those sound like something that would be realistic in your life?

Most folks know that another supposed source of residual income is MLM, multi-level marketing. Even if you are a seasoned expert in the MLM building business, 95% of those who you recruit will fail miserably and make very little or no money at all! That wipes out any hope for long-term residual income for you.

Most MLM companies also require what is called an “auto-ship,” where month after month you cringe when UPS drops a bunch of nutritional products on your doorstep that cost you from $100 to sometimes HUNDREDS of dollars per month! If you are like most folks, you can never drink the “power drink,” or choke down all those pills, so your closet or your garage stacks up with boxes of “stuff” from your latest MLM business!

Also, most people could not maintain spending that $100 every month for very long when there is nothing coming in. Like you, most people never even make enough to cover their auto ship, let alone the money needed to market the products well enough to make any serious money!

So what most people need to do is come up with an option that will allow them to earn residual income without a lot of skills and talent or a lot of money, like what it would cost to buy your own insurance company. You need a simple plan for residual income. Fortunately, there are options for those of us without a lot of money and a lot of special skills and talents that will allow you to earn a residual income. Residual income is very important to your long term financial goals but it eludes most people since they don’t even know what it is. But now that you know what it is, its time for you to start working your plan to earn residual income.

The short Answer is YES. But, unlike some would have you believe, there really is more to it than that.

Once one decides to attempt to make money online, they do some internet research and find all sorts of people who claim to be making money and who can show you how to do it too. So now you have to watch out for internet scams in your search for a true legit money making internet business.

You will find out that you cannot simply throw up a website and people will buy whatever you are offering. The old “if you build it, they will come” strategy doesn’t work here. It is one of the best ways to get your name or website known and many experts online swear by this method. Write about what you know and love and submit them to article directories to get the word out.

Affiliate Marketing is a legitimate way to make money by selling someone else products. The program normally gives you a referral web address that you can then go out and advertise everywhere on the net. How much money you make depends on how successful you are driving targeted traffic to your site.

Forum Marketing is a way to learn about your business and talk with others about the same interests while getting your website in your signature with every post. This can mean back-links to your website and traffic to your site through search engines at a later date.

This is a long term way of driving traffic and it is also socially driven. You can learn a lot from others in forums if you participate and truly have something to contribute. If you don’t, it is best to just log in and watch until you do.

Social Bookmarking is now a very popular way to network with others and its also a great way to advertise your site/products. You have to do this on a personal level though as traditional salesy tactic won’t work here. Social is the key word here and business revolves around people even though your business in online. Someone is still on the other side hopefully taking out their wallet to buy something from you. Keep that in mind.

Blogging your way to making legitimate money on the internet is a great way to get your posts noticed by search engines. This is a popular low-cost form of driving traffic and some have made it a full-time business doing only this. All you do is post about what you’re up to a few times a week on a regular basis and this will provide updated content that search engines love. Through in some links to site you own or like and traffic will finally come.

Traffic Exchanges are a good way to advertise for free. Since the money is not required, it doesn’t mean that there is no cost. The cost is now your time as it can be very time consuming to build traffic this way. Like everything else, there needs to be some knowledge about this method of advertising going into it so you don’t wast more time than is necessary. There are hundreds of Traffic Exchanges now and most people use these totally wrong and waste valuable time. These people are the ones who will say the this sort of advertising doesn’t work but I beg to differ. It does work if used properly. More about this later.

You should learn all about these methods and others if you want to start or operate a legitimate money making internet business. It should be said that understanding CPA offers is a bit more difficult than it is to understand affiliate offers. You’ll have to check with each offer you want to promote to see how you are able to promote it, and what specific actions the person needs to take in order for you to get paid.
