Given the simplistic nature of it and the lowered necessity for specialized knowledge, blogging is a very good way to make dough over the Internet. As soon as you think about a good market place to go into, an idea for monetizing the blog and ideas for content, you can get rolling with it. I put together the process I use when jumping into a new niche and decided I would share them with everyone in the hope that someone else can become successful on-line earning a residual income from home.
The primary thing is getting web hosting. I recommend getting a shared hosting account on a linux box. You can generally track down one that enables you to host multiple sites with 1 account. Go Daddy is a decentoption and gives you this unlimited ability for less than $100.00 a year. You will also need a domain name. I believe it will be a necessity to buy at least one domain at Go Daddy to connect to your hosting account but I’m not 100% sure. If not, Name Cheap is a respectable site to host and purchase your domain and purchase any upcoming domain names. Point the domain at Go Daddy’s name servers and you are in business. Now you could make use of the one or two click installation at Go Daddy to get WordPress set up on your website. Add a free WordPress template, a few recommended SEO plugins and you are ready to proceed. For each step discussed that you aren’t positive how to accomplish, Google it and you should very easily locate the solutions.
Now picking out a topic to talk about on your blog is pretty quick and easy. IMO, it’s more beneficial to pick something that you realistically like, and actually practice to an extent. For example, if you bake cakes, travel commonly, ride and repair bi, exercise, play games or anything else then you SHOULD have tips that plenty of other individuals would be interested in whether you realize it or not. Select a market and get to work. You should back up a step and pick a meaningful domain for the niche.
Now a tried and true method to start earning cash with your new site is by using Google AdSense, Amazon and/or Clickbank. You can use AdSense for the info traffic and receive money for each mouse click on each contextual ad. With Amazon you can link out to physical products from inside of your blog articles as well as your product reviews and receive commissions if an individual makes a purchase. Plus with Clickbank you can link to info products from inside your posts and/or product reviews.
You might also want to burn your feed at Feedburner and monetize your feed also with AdSense. You may want to secure a Google mail account to use with your blog as you will need it for a lot of Google related services like AdSense, Google Analytics and Feedburner.
Now, setup and install Google Analytics so that you can keep track of visitors to your web site. Although not built for this intention it is interesting to set up Prosper 202 on your website to learn about the traffic as well, but in real-time. You can see the site they arrived from plus if they arrived from a search engine you can see the keyphrase or keyword they typed in.
I would publish 2 articles per week but it does depend a lot on the niche. Start out with 2 if you aren’t sure. The articles can be on absolutely anything pertaining to your niche and you can go as specific or as general as you would like. As an example, for the cake decorating market you can talk about your favorite icing type to use and why it’s your favorite. For bike riding you can discuss tires, rims, the pedals.. or any other aspect of the bike. You can even discuss the history of bikes or anything at all else of interest in which you know a thing or two about. Write your article content before hand if you want to and set them to post at future dates. Aim for posting content every 3 or 4 days. Keep up on the comments and discussion as well as answer your visitors queries. Also, from my view point it isn’t a good idea to blatantly promote a product in every article. Naturally, link to a product using your referral link if it is relevant, but don’t go overboard. Plus try to write posts of absolute value by offering your experiences and wisdom whilst having no referral links. AdSense is alright to have on each page or post however. Some blog posts, maybe 1 or 2 a month can be prepared more as sales offers with buy now links. These strategies aren’t fixed in stone, just a decent rule of thumb from my experience.
If you are secure making videos for your posts, then great. Do the video, write it out in text, then extract the audio for use as a pod cast. Include the podcast to a podcast feed that you can setup quite easily at Feedburner and then add the video to YouTube and other video sharing websites. Now embed the You Tube video at the beginning of the blog post, add the podcast in the post as well, and then write the text underneath. Lots of effort but should turn out lucrative.
Now, it may possibly be a good idea to put in place an autoresponder and newsletter. I use Get Response. If you are not certain what to deliver to your mailing list subscribers I have a suggestion. Every week send out an email summarizing the previous couple of blog posts and post links to them. Don’t think that because a person subscribed to your mailing list that they also read your past blog posts and that they will read future blog posts. Just link to the articles that’ll be pertinent for quite awhile, not blog posts with content that expires.
In regards to bringing readers to the website, I would initially add it to Traffic Bug for initial exposure. Then after publishing each blog post I would submit each of them to Traffic Bug, then “spin” the textual section of the blog post and post it to Jet2Submitter to get links from the article directories, then to Syndicate Kahuna or Article Marketing Automation to get onto niche related websites and blogs, and after that modify the structure a bit and post to Free Traffic System to again get onto a number of blogs. Link back to the main page and your latest article from these submissions. Then create a PDF, using OpenOffice, of one of the “spins” that you can grab from Syndicate Kahuna or Jet2Submitter and publish it to a couple of PDF sharing sites.
Do all or a couple of these tasks and you can be generating cash online in very little time. Good luck to you.
